Miss Ohio-Biography

Becky Minger  Miss Ohio 2010

Becky is a recent graduate of Bowling Green State University, where she majored in Interpersonal Communications with a minor in Political Science. Becky now has her sights set on a Juris Doctorate, as she hopes to continue her education by attending law school in the near future.

Growing up, Becky struggled with her self-esteem. As a shy student with a learning disability, she felt separated from her peers and was a victim of bullying.  Her platform, “Discovering You, Empowering You: A Movement for Youth Development,” has grown and evolved, but still focuses on four key principles: Building a Healthy Self Image, Respecting Yourself and Others, Setting Goals, and Recognizing Avenues of Support. As her platform and curriculum for “Discovering You!”© has taken shape, she has begun to work with a number of organizations around the country to provide a more holistic approach to childhood development. She works to provide youth with basic needs, while preventing bullying and youth violence and advocating for teen victims, in order to make sure each child is healthy, safe, and inspired to achieve their own personal success.

As Miss Ohio, Becky began working closely with our service members and military families as a partner and the national spokesperson for The Thank You Foundation. Through her involvement, she quickly became devoted to helping grow the mission of appreciation to our nation’s Heroes and their families. Becky utilizes her opportunities as Miss Ohio to advocate for our military children and spends her time serving our wounded warriors, both active and retired service members and military families, to thank them for their service and bravery.
